My friday night sewing

I hope everybody got a load of sewing done last night with the Friday Night Sew In.

I managed to get three blocks made for a swap I'm involved in.  There are 16 of us and you had to send a fat eighth of your fabric to everybody else.  They then make a block for you and you do the same with their fabric.

These three will be winging their way across the Atlantic on Monday to their new homes.

Sadly last week my father in law passed away.  He was diagnosed with liver cancer in October but had been doing well.  Tuesday he took a turn and he passed away in his sleep at home early on Thursday morning.  He was a quiet unassuming man who loved the land and his family.  We gave him a good send off last Saturday and he will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.
This is a photo of him with his two grand-daughters (my two girls) on Christmas Day.

Here is a photo of my eldest daughter with her friends also taken on Christmas Day taking part in the swim at Rush Sailing Club in aid of cancer (rather them than me).

Have a nice weekend everyone.

  1. I love your swap blocks. It looks like a great swap to be using such a variety of fabrics and patterns. I'm sorry to hear your father has passed away. Hugs x

  2. I especially love the blue block. Sorry to hear about your father inlaw. My husband was diagnosed with liver cancer in September. He is doing okay and was able to walk our daughter down the aisle on her wedding day on 7th of January. Each day is a blessing. It looks to me that your daughter has a lovely bunch of friends. The water looks pretty rough, I'm not surprised you were glad it was them and not you!

That water looks rather chilly but they look like they are having a grand time. Thanks for sharing the photos of your family.
    Enjoy your week,
