At last it's the weekend

Yeahhhh, the weekend, no work for two days (well office work that is).  Will try to catch up on the ironing and everything else that there never seems to be enough time during the week to do.  Hopefully I will get most of it done today so that I can have a couple of hours for me time (with my fabrics and sewing machine).   There's only a couple of weeks of weekly meetings left with the patchwork group I'm in before our meeting place (a local school) closes for the summer.  As secretary I'm trying to think up a few ideas of things I can get everybody to do while we are off for a lucky dip swap when we get back together in September.

In the meantime, here are some photos of a basket I made for our Easter challenge.
This a picture of one of the sides.

This is one of the other sides (sideways I'm afraid, still learning how to do this)
and finally this is the inside of it.

Hope everybody has a great weekend and you all get to do something you like

That's where it was

I spent a couple of hours trying to organise our craft/playroom which is a storage room over the garage.
I had started it before Christmas but with the really bad weather, easter and all the kids activities, it was put on the long finger for finishing.  I made a good dent in it yesterday and found some of my UFO's that I had forgotten about.  Now I have even more stuff to finish.  I did however, get a lot of the paper crafting stuff sorted and organised into the the new shelving units.  I even managed to clear the desk so that the girls now have somewhere to sit when they want to make cards.
Hoping to get another bit done today before the mad dash this evening (one daughter sailing, one on rescue duty for sailing and my weekly quilt group meeting).

Irish Patchwork Association

Here is a photo of the fabric postcard I've just finished to send to the Irish Patchwork Association.  They are celebrating 30 years and will have an exhibition in the Botanic Gardens, Dublin part of which is a fabric postcard section.  They will then be selling the postcards at the Knitting and Stitching Show in the RDS in November with all funds raised going to a cancer charity.
It's a paper pieced flower as the theme is botanical.

What I'm working on

Thought I'd put up some photos of what I'm working on at the moment.
This is a design from the Hoopsisters website (check out their site here http://www.hoopsisters.com).  It's a Quilt in the Hoop project.
This is the first time I've tried anything like this and as with everything it is a learning curve (that means I made a boo-boo).  You quilt and embroider the block in one go and then sew them together with sashing.
This is the front of the block

This is the back of the block
and these are the fabrics that I am using
So far I have made three 6 inch blocks.  One more in the dark top/light bottom and then four with the light top/dark bottom to do.  I'll have to change my light fabric on the next four as I cut them too small.  I was so eager to get started that I cut them for a 5 inch finish square instead of 6 (what's the quilters rule again, MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE).  Oh well, I'll know for the next time.

Very First Blog

Well, I've taken the plunge and just set up my own blog page and this is my first entry.
Okay, I've survived that much, big sigh of relief.
I love to sew, quilt, knit, make cards, basically try my hand at any craft I can.
Will post some pics when I've figured that out.
Bye for now.
