Winter Stitching

I've linked up with Sarah for the Winter Stitching.

The list of things I hope to get finished are

1.  Hexagon quilt from Vignette magazine
2.  Some Christmas placemats
3.  Table runner for a swap
4.  Some Christmas ornaments
5.  Blue and white quilt for youngest dd for when her room has had it's makeovr
6.  An owl cushion that I've promised youngest dd
7.  Finish a shoe quilt for eldest dd for her room
8.  Make a bag for myself
9.  Finish off some quilt tops
10. Make a list of things that I've started so that I can finish them.

What do you think, do I have any chance of getting all this done?

Oh well, will just have to knuckle down and get going.

My Friday Night Sew In project

mug rug and goodie swap

Yippee,  my goodies have arrived.

These were from Tammi all the way from OZ.  A mug rug and needle case. My fav colours and she had it wrapped in part of a dressmaking pattern (neat idea).

These were from Jules in UK.  Again my fav colours.  Mug rug, fabric covered notebook and a great sewing case.

I will miss the excitement of waiting for the postman each day now.

Another doll quilt

I received another doll quilt from my swap partner Monique.
The theme was black and white with a pop of colour.
I think it looks very southwestern american which is very apt as Monique is from Texas.

She also sent me a load of goodies.

I have my doll quilt for Monique finished and just need to finish off the label on it.
Will post a photo when I know she's received it.

PAY IT FORWARD

I saw this over at Fabraholic's  blog and I would like to do the same on my blog. I love getting surprises in the post so why not pass that feeling onto somebody else? This is how it works: I promise to send a surprise gift to the first three people to comment on my post. This gift will be a goodie made by me and sent sometime within the next year. Yes, that gives me a whole year to make it but I promise to try to make it as early as possible. Now for the business end of it:

Mug rug and goodie swap

Well I've finished my goodies to send off on the Mug Rug and Goodie Swap.
Partner one likes pink so I hope she likes these

There is a hexagon needle case, a small triangle pouch/thread catcher and a larger triangle pouch.  The larger one was made when I misread the instructions to make the triangle pouch which you make from only one triangle.  I misread it as having to make three and then when I put them together it had no bottom so had to make a fourth triangle.  It turned out not too bad.

I really enjoyed making all of these.  The little purse is a really easy make.  I think I might make some for my daughter to give to her friends in school at Christmas (yes that dreaded word).  The sewing organiser turned out better than I thought and was a lot easier than I thought it would be.  I might just have to make some of these for myself now.  

I'll be posting these off this week and will be anxiously waiting to see what I will receive in return.

On another swap that I joined up for, I received these lovely blocks from my swap partner for September (Katie).  Aren't they lovely?

I asked for yellows and blues and these are just perfect.  I have to finish my block for Katie, a doll quilt for a swap and three fabric mini quilt postcards (no pressure).

SWAPS

As part of the Mug Rug and Goodie Swap organised by Cindy I've made the two mug rugs for my two partners.

This was the first time I tried adding circular pieces in patchwork.  It was not one of my finest works.

Now I have to make a goodie to go with each one.  Have some ideas, it's just a matter of making up my mind exactly what so I can get started.

We are getting the end of Hurricane Katia here.  The winds are very strong so I think I will have to get together some more hexagons to sew in case the electricity goes off.
