lovely goodies

I've received some lovely goodies in the post.
First I received this lovely postcard from Louise (who I know from the Quilting Board) as a RAK (random act of kindness).
Isn't it lovely.

I also received the following package from Diane (also from the Quilting Board) as a RAK.  I'm so overwhelmed by their genorosity is sending something to me.

I finished my paper pieced gnome postcards for a swap in a group on Yahoo and have sent them.  I posted them on leap day so that they would have that date stamped on them by the post office.  I think they are cute.

I've also finished my little house ornament for Leonie and posted off to her with a few extra's in it for her three beautiful girls.  I can't show a photo of what I sent as she reads my blog and I want it to be a surprise.

I also finished and posted off my doll quilt for the February doll quilt swap on the Quilting Board to Christina.  I can show you a photo as she doesn't follow my blog.

I have the front of my Name Swap banner finished but as it is a surprise I can't show any of it except this as it would be a complete giveaway.

I also had the honour of being given the chance to pick the March block for a BOM on the Quilting Board by Cheryl (Sulabug).  I chose this block.  I even wrote up a tutorial for it and for anybody who is interested, here it is Shamrock Block.  I might just have to make it up in a few different colour combinations to see what it is like.

Goodies

I recently won a giveaway on Elisa's blog and the wonderful goodies arrived.

I think I will make a nice bag for myself out of those fab fabrics.  Needless to say the sweets and chocolates will be devoured tonight (Lent starts tomorrow and so it's goodbye to goodies for 7 weeks and maybe hello to a slightly smaller waistline????).

If you get a chance check out  Elisa's blog, especially her Canton Village workshop she attended and her blocks that she is making for this fab quilt.  She's also made a lovely pouch for the Mouthy Stitches swap.
I had Elisa as a secret swap for the Goodie Swap last year and we've been checking out each other's blogs ever since.

I also received my needlecase in the swap over on Quilting Board that I was in.

She sent the most cute little hexie pincushion and some other goodies.

I've been very happy to see the post arriving.  I'm waiting for my charms from a rainbow charm swap to arrive next.

FNSI sewing

I managed to get the following finished during FNSI

Finishing touches to my swap for the Mouthy Stitches.  I'm covering up some embroidery which would show who my pouch is for.

I also managed to get the front finished of some fabric postcards for a swap on Yahoo.  The theme is paper-pieced gnomes.

And finally I have part of the front of my Name Game swap finished.  I can only show a little bit of it as it is a secret swap and my partner would guess straight away that it is for her if she saw the full thing.

All in all not a bad bit of work for a Friday night.

Friday Night Sew In

It's that time again.
The Friday Night Sew in is almost on us.  Why not head over to Heidi's blog to sign up.

I am going to finish off my house ornament for the swap I'm in.  I've finished my puch for the Mouthy Stitches swap but I'll hold off showing the photo until my partner receives it.  I also have to get into gear on the Name Swap.  

I'm also the guest for the block for March in a BOM on the Quilting Board.  I've made my block and started my turorial.  I've all the written info done, just need to get the photos's in order for it. After I've posted it on the Quilting Board I'll put the tutorial here (my first).

I also have some fabric postcards to make for a swap on Yahoo.

I've received some lovely goodies over the last week or so and will get myself organised with photos of all to show over the weekend.

Some more blocks finished

I've managed to finish some more blocks for a swap I'm invlolved in.  Everybody sends a fat eighth to everyone else on the list and they make a block for you with your fabric and return it to you.

The russian doll fabric was the fabric to be used in this block and they wanted to keep with the colours of the dolls.  This block is part of the Sew Happy Quilt QAL

I made the Asterisk block from City House Studio and just added yellow to the chosen fabric.

This one is also a block from Sew Happy Quilt QAL.  The rust fabric is the chosen fabric and they only wanted the colour 

This is another one from the Sew Happy Quilt QAL (do you think I like the blocks from this????).  The chosen fabric was the floral and I just thought that blues and white would be the best.

This is a block from the Quiltmaker 100 blocks Volume 4.  The pale pink/white was the chosen fabric and only pinks and whites were to be used.

I hope that the ladies in the swap are happy with the blocks I've made.  I have one more block to make so will get it finished tonight.

My friday night sewing

I hope everybody got a load of sewing done last night with the Friday Night Sew In.

I managed to get three blocks made for a swap I'm involved in.  There are 16 of us and you had to send a fat eighth of your fabric to everybody else.  They then make a block for you and you do the same with their fabric.  

These three will be winging their way across the Atlantic on Monday to their new homes.

Sadly last week my father in law passed away.  He was diagnosed with liver cancer in October but had been doing well.  Tuesday he took a turn and he passed away in his sleep at home early on Thursday morning.  He was a quiet unassuming man who loved the land and his family.  We gave him a good send off last Saturday and he will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.

This is a photo of him with his two grand-daughters (my two girls) on Christmas Day.

Here is a photo of my eldest daughter with her friends also taken on Christmas Day taking part in the swim at Rush Sailing Club in aid of cancer (rather them than me).
